If your job is on the wrong side of this list, we'll tell you straight.
A rough answer is fine for every one of these.
Acreage, what's growing, and a photo of the thickest part.
Simple ground can be quoted from photos. Rough ground may need a look first.
Flag what's hidden and open the gates. We cut it down.
A brush hog is a heavy rough-cut mower for tall grass, weeds and light brush. It isn't a lawn finish, and it doesn't grind trees. Land that has grown up in trees needs a mulcher or a dozer.
Tall grass, weeds, briars and small saplings are what a brush hog is built for. Send photos of the thickest growth and we'll tell you straight whether it's a fit.
Cut down and open, but rough. The cuttings stay on the ground and break down. Very tall growth can leave clumps. The roots stay in the ground, so it will grow back.
Walk the ground if you can. Flag or pull anything hidden: wire, posts, stumps, rocks and junk. Mark septic lids, well heads and sprinkler heads. Move livestock, unlock the gates, and keep people and pets well clear while the tractor is running.
Soft ground ruts up and a tractor can get stuck, so wet jobs wait until the ground firms up.
Check your county appraisal district record, or measure it on a satellite map. A rough number is fine.
